Repurpose-Recycle-Return!

We are a bit greener than your average florist...

All florists reuse glass vases, baskets, and plastic design dishes. However we go a bit further.

So what makes us a bit "greener"?

****our latest exiting green policy**** *We use reBag(tm) insulated recycleable and reusable deivery bags to make sure heat sensitive corsages are as fresh as possible upon delivery! *************************************

*We do NOT use a cooler. We do all of our events on a truncated time table. We do use a mini fridge for our corsages, and turn on our a/c only when needed for an event in the hot summer. If a single lightbulb that is not florescent uses up ONE box car of coal in a whole year, imagine what a fully robust refrigerant compressor uses 24/7....

*We repurpose our household cats kitty litter buckets. So don't be shocked to see cute kitty cat logos on our buckets to setup onsite at an event or in our studio. It may not look "sheik" but we will all reduce our demand on our limited petroleum supply by reusing quality plastics.

*We return our organic floral waste to the earth via compost for gardening, dry our stems for crafts and preserve extra flowers.

* We repurpose plastic containers for corsages that may have had a different purpose when created. Again this saves energy for all of us in the long run.

* We reuse those pesky disposable shopping bags that everyone accumulates for shipping and delivery.

* We share resources with our florist friends. If they have a rental item, we are able to use it, and we share our rental items with them. This again saves resources and energy that we will all use tomorrow.

* We reuse cardboard fabric bolt centers for storage and transport of our gazebo tulle rental

* We reuse our cardboard boxes for delivery, storage, and bow storage

* We reuse old newspaper for storage of fragile items and packing shipping items.

* We prefer to use FLP certified flowers and home grown flowers out of our own garden, we also give you the option of Organic flowers if your budget allows!(click here on what FLP is and WHY it matters...)

* We repurpose faux canning jars that held jam or other food products in storage of corsage pins and other items.

* We accept returned items after an event, such as: -Delivery Baskets -Glass Centerpiece Containers -Plastic Elevation Mechanics -Plastic Urns -Bows -Pew Clips -reBag(tm)

The only condition to the above is that they must be in a clean and reusable condition. Please note: we do not give you a monetary amount back. We will however give you a relative credit towards preserving your flowers. This credit is non-transferable. We do reserve the right to refuse returning items if they do not meet our high standards of reuse.

In the future we hope to have a eco-friendly hybrid delivery vehicle when our budget allows (07/01/2008: we have been put on a wait list for the French engineered AirCar). But we are doing what we can today that is in our power to extend the life of many items that would otherwise end up in a landfill or worse, chew up more resources by recycling.

Recycling is preferable to trashing something, but make no mistake "recycling" to de-construct an item to its most basic component inorder to make something like fleece from soda bottles, takes up new and previously unused resources.

We are not perfect and there will be room for us to improve over what we do right now, but we do make choices to repurpose our items as best we can to repurpose stuff and reuse stuff. As a choice of last resort, we recycle and throw away.

We hope you will join us in repurposing, up-cycling, and reusing your household items in a safe and responsible manner. Imagine what the item you will next use could do tomorrow....
